AUBUSSON

Size: m. 3,65 x 3,04 - 12' x 10'
Age: second half of XIX century. Second Empire (1852 - 1870)
Condition: perfect.

Aubussons are probably the best expression of French carpet production of the XIX century and could be considered a sort of "floor tapestries". The design of this carpet is inspired by the ceiling decorations of palaces of the period. Colours are warm and, at the same time, very delicate. The field is dominated by a rose's central medallion and the same pattern is repeated in the wide, elegant border.
