NINGH SIA

Size: m. 3,06 x 0,54 - 10'1" x 0'9"
Age: first half of XIX century.

Ningh Sia, located near the Great Wall and capital of the homonymous province, has always been considered as the birthplace of Chinese rugs of exceptional quality. The runners of this type, formed by multiple squares with the same design, were generally used over low platforms inside Buddhist temples where monks used to seat during the orations, one beside the other. Each square is decorated with a floral round central medallion. The border has a beautiful cloudband motive.
