(Caucasus)
SHIRWAN

Size:m. 2,80 x 1,22 - 9’2” x 4’0”
Age: end of XIX century.
Condition: : practically perfect. One old bend has been reinforced.

The rug is an exceptional representative of the vivacity and joyfulness of Caucasians.
The field is based on five hooked hexagonal medallions surrounded by geometrical motives and human and animal stylized figures.

The main border on yellow background is striking and it is based on an old “S” motif; this is thought to be either dragon’s figures or river’s bends.
