Size: 3,14 H x 3,27 L - 10'4" H x 10'9" L
Age: first half of XVII century.
Condition: very good. The tapestry is complete and original with the exception of the narrow, later outside selvage.
The design of this tapestry is famous and appeared for the first time in the Flemish series called the "Months of Lucas" woven in XVI century and drawn by the painter Lucas Van Leyden. The same subject later inspired Gobelin tapestry of XVIII century.
This brightly coloured and joyful tapestry depicts several seated figures in the foreground, shearing sheep. A male and a female in the far left pull a sheep in preparation for being sheared while in the distance figures can be seen emerging from the barn.
A fruiting tree and an oak are glancing each side of the tapestry within a four-sided floral border.
